A question that came through on the manifestation workshop last week was how do you know if what you want is coming from your ego or authentic self?
Reclaiming a relationship to our intuition is a process. For some of us, we hear this loving voice through our gut and for others it’s instinctual, emotional, passionate, mental or comes through talking it out. And sometimes, it’s still just crickets.
I’ve found that putting pressure to be in perfect alignment with ourselves can hold us back from finding out the answer.
We have to create something, anything in order to experience ourselves. So I’m all for going for it to find out the answer for yourself! If you don’t like the result, get curious as to why you took the actions you did, fine tune your intentions and try again.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of aligning your soul with your personality. A concept I read about in the book The Seat of The Soul, that gave me chills on a plane ride a couple of winters ago.
I always search for an invite to pull out my favorite books to help me connect the dots of my experiences.
Our soul has values and so does our personality. When I think about my soul, I feel a light, abundant, joyful, expressive & creative essence. When I think about my personality, I ground into the change I want to see in the world- empowerment, perseverance, freedom and depth. The latter of which have come with fierce expectations and shadow behavior to tame through from my ego. I think often our personalities present us with the biggest paradox of our life; we want to be something but we don’t think we can be.
I like to think of the personality as the archetype we’re here to play out in service of humanity. So in my case you could call me something of a warrior. Yours might be a sage, scholar, server, explorer, artist, lover or healer. Those are just a few other examples.
I’ve struggled to feel good about playing my character. Maybe you can relate? This year I’ve intentionally been working to infuse my heart into everything I do so that that my intense power feels authentic to me.
I’ve come to the beautiful realization that I’m a fighter who cares about making sure people feel free. I will lean into tension with you and battle for your light to shine! I want nothing more than to help people feel their own fire in their bellies.
If you’re doubting your desires, make a list of your values by who you are and who you want to more fully become. Start by honoring the gifts of your heart and infusing them into everything you do; finding the joy in being your personality will come with creation. When the two are balanced you cannot see where one ends and the other begins. Goals I aspire to for sure!
It’s okay to play out your archetypes drama- don’t ever judge yourself too harshly in this game called life! It all has a greater purpose and is part of the script.
