February 2025 Outfits
This was my second month in a row where I styled about 25 outfits for the month ahead onto a clothing rack. It took me a few hours on a Saturday afternoon and I had so much fun with it- trying things on and pulling out shoes, jackets and accessories. I’ve found it’s so hard to do my morning routine- shower, hair, make-up, coffee, breakfast- plus style an outfit all before I start work at 8am so this monthly exercise is helping solve that dilemma!
It’s funny, just like January I naturally took photos of 16 outfits I liked best. The rest either felt too basic or something felt off and I didn’t have time to analyze it that deeply. Also, the truth is that sometimes when my hair is on day 2 or 3 I just don’t feel as put together as the days that I have a fresh wash! Interesting to reflect on how much that impacts how I feel about myself. Maybe dirty hair days are the days I need to be loving on myself extra hard- okay, good note to self.
Compared to January, while I still lived in my Jenni Kayne sweaters and favorite jeans, this month I noticed a shift into pastels, pops of color, winter florals and ballet flats. In San Francisco, February usually gifts us plentiful days of 60 degree sun and no clouds, so it’s a chance to lean into spring sensibility before windier days approach us in April & May. I took full advantage of the days that the sun kept my office warm by opting for tee’s and button down tops instead of my usual sweater.
I noticed that the new pieces I invested in this month I would wear back to back days- like my AYR denim button down top. I’m all about riding the joy a new find brings! It’s a good sign that it was well worth the purchase.
The dark wash Agolde Ren’s are are a nice anchor to my wardrobe and I know I’ll wear a ton next fall/winter. I can’t believe I’m just getting on the chocolate brown trend- I invested in the short Jenni Kayne cocoon cardi and already have been grabbing it to throw over everything and anything. I like how it looks with black too. When Margaux did their annual closet sale I snagged the blue demi flats which makes this my 4th pair in my closet. Big fan of owning multiple colors of something when you love it so much!
I did my first solo talk at a conference in Nashville so I treated myself to a Doen floral dress, I love how fresh the silhouette is and the feminine fit. It’s special to put meaning behind fashion pieces like this. It was also a good reason to wear the Farm Rio dress I snagged last month again too. When I did my closet audit last year I realized that I was missing winter dresses and prints so I’m glad to have these two in my collection now for many years to come.
As we keep inching towards sunnier days I’m feeling a pull to more pastels, button down tops and saturated spring florals!
