Off To Buffalo
I’m originally from a small town outside of Buffalo, where my family still lives. And while I don’t miss the endless snow days, I do love a blanket of it for Christmas! The forecast is looking good—as long as I don’t get stuck overnight in Chicago, which has somehow become a recurring theme over the years.
My mom is the hostess with the mostess, so lots of time with family (and pups) coming in and out—cousins, aunties, uncles, step siblings and nephews. I also have dinner plans with my best friend from high school, a yoga date with mom, coffee and hiking with dad, a massage, a watercolor date with my sister, and maybe even some ice skating if we have time.
Oh and not to be missed, call number 8 with the Magnetize Your Business group will be happening when I’m there too. If community and personal growth are on your list for 2026, would love to have you join the next cohort of Manifest Your Future—we kick off in February.
I thought I’d share what I’m packing, because winter travel requires a totally different mindset. The bulkiness of sweaters, boots, and jackets makes packing that much more challenging. I built 10 outfits from these pieces and know a few of them are interchangeable, too depending on my mood. I just closed my suitcase and am proud to say it all fits in a carry-on!
CLOTHING
Coats- I’ll wear my vintage Max Mara coat on the plane. I also keep an ankle length dark grey sherpa jacket at my mom’s, plus I’ll borrow her puffers for walks.
Sweaters- My classic red sweater looks just as cute with sweater pants as it does with jeans. And you can’t go to a winter wonderland without Fair Isle. These are my go-to cashmere sweaters (here and here) that I’ll layer with turtlenecks.
Tops- Which brings me to my favorite ribbed turtleneck and modern mockneck. I’m also packing a vintage Pucci turtleneck with a sparkly stripe to feel in the celebratory spirit.
Jeans- I’ll bring two straight leg pairs (dark blue and grey) that work great with all the boots I’m bringing.
Sweatshirt & Sweatpants- I’ll wear these pants on the plane, with a cashmere sweater and blanket scarf. These new barrel sweats I picked up are the perfect weight for the cold. I plan to lounge by the fireplace in them with a quilted pullover. I also keep this timeless sweatshirt and jogger set at my mom’s for lounging around too.
Fashion Pants- My favorite way to celebrate is looking both stylish and cozy. This fun pair of pants and this printed pair were my two big purchases for the season. I’ll be wearing them with sweaters and turtlenecks.
SHOES & ACCESSORIES
Boots- More is more here because it gives versatility. I’ll be wearing a pair of flat suede boots on the plane and tossing in this dressier pair too. I also keep this classic pair of snow boots there.
Hats & Ear Muffs- I’m not a huge hat gal, but I’ll wear my mom’s beanies while home. But, how cute are these earmuffs? Had to have them sent there in preparation for my arrival. I have a flap hat like this I keep there for super blustery days.
Scarves- My go-to is an oversized cashmere blanket scarf—bringing it in black and grey. So cozy for the plane too, especially for early and late flights.
Gloves- Love a good pair of leather gloves. I actually have a beautiful vintage pair with fur that I love being reunited with every year.
Socks- A very important category for chilly Buffalo! I’m packing my favorite marled camp socks from years past in a variety of colors, plus a range of these.
Jewelry- Will include some gold hoops, sparkly rhinestones, vintage rubies and that’s about all you need when you’re so layered up.
Belts- Tossing in my vintage Chanel black suede belt to dress up any turtleneck or sweater with jeans.
I’m excited for some holiday festivities. This past week I’ve been sick in bed and had to cancel all of my plans, so I’m extra ready for connection and cheer.
Wishing everyone safe travels if you’re heading somewhere too—and hopefully no getting stuck anywhere this year!
