Outfit Formulas For My Body Type
I’ve noticed that when I feel most me, I’m usually wearing some variation of one of these types of outfits. For reference, I’m 5’3″ and a steady 125 lbs give or take a few pounds given the time of the month.
If I had to describe my figure, I’d say I have a soft hourglass shape. My shoulders and hips are pretty aligned and although I have a short waist, it is subtly defined. I workout a lot so I’d say I’m a bit curvier than straight.
Generally speaking, with my outfits, I either like to create one long line or accentuate my figure by defining my waist. Here and there I like to play with structure, mostly in the shoulders, but most of the time I opt for soft, comfortable and drapey pieces. To me they signal ease, flow and femininity.
1. Maxi Dress + Drapey Layer
2. Straight Top + Wideleg or Straight Jeans + Drapey Layer (optional)
3. Tucked in Top + Wideleg or Straight Jeans + Drapey Layer (optional)
4. Roomy Top + Straight Bottoms
5. Fitted Top & Straight Bottoms

I’d never really thought about my body type and how that plays into my style much before but upon further investigation I’ve been shocked to see how intuitively it’s impacted what I gravitate to. Curious what your experience has been?
