Vintage Home Decor
I’ve been itching to go antiquing and stalk Facebook Marketplace again. The elevator in my building has been out of service the past four months, and since I live on the top floor, I haven’t even dared to tempt myself by shopping.
I couldn’t stomach letting something so perfect pass me by because I couldn’t carry it up the stairs. So for now, it’s been better not to look.
But when that elevator is finally running again, you better believe I’ll be back at it! I love giving my eyes (and heart) the chance to discover beauty that feels rare, timeless, and full of character.
In the meantime, I’ve been reflecting, sharpening my eye, and dreaming up what I’d like to find next. Pulling these photos together of my home showed me how the space is starting to tell a story. Sometimes it’s just so hard to see while you’re in it.
A Living Story
Back in the day, my living room was the S&S headquarters, where the team would gather every day to work. Right before the pandemic, I sold my couch and replaced it with an island of desks. Those years marked being all-in on the business and I’ll always treasure them for the courage and dedication they required.
Now, my workspace has its own little sanctuary—tucked away in a closet filled with beautiful light, an inspiration board, and shelves lined with all my favorite books. It perfectly contains my creativity.
Since closing the company, I’ve been slowly updating each room in my place to reflect the calmer chapter I’m trying to sink into these days- one that’s less about doing, more about being.
One of my favorite finds is my couch, which I scored on Facebook Marketplace. The rounded arms, the textured floral fabric—it was love at first sight. When I saw the pickup address was Jillian Way, I knew it was meant to be mine. To me, it wasn’t just a couch—it was a reminder that when you get clear about what you want, the right things have a way of finding you.
The same is true of the darker wooden bureau in my office, another Marketplace discovery. I love its scalloped edges and curved legs. Someday, I’ll pair it with a French-style writing desk in a lighter finish—I’ll know it when I see it!
Looking around now, I see a richness. Each piece reminds me that meaningful things often come thoughtfully and at just the right moment.
As I get back out there, this is the inspiration board I’m carrying with me.
Adding Aliveness & Soul
The foundation of my aesthetic is dark wood pieces that ground, statement finds that lend romance and dimension, and comfortable textures that invite ease. What comes next is layering and art that sparks aliveness.
Here’s what’s next on my manifestation list:
Bright and bold, abstract paintings
A French writing desk
A desk chair
Matching lamps for my bedside tables and office
A mirror with dimension for my dresser
Textured crystal tumblers
Bistro chairs and a kitchen table with character
A TV stand (this one still stumps my imagination, might have to go new!)
A chandelier for my living room
Eyes Open, Heart Open
Then there are the “always” categories—the things I’ll never pass up if I find the right one. Side tables, cabinets, stools, dressers, statement chairs, brass objects, vases, pottery, mirrors, frames, serving ware, baskets, glasses, and dishes.
That’s the part about vintage I love—how a single piece can inspire an entire room, even if you don’t “need” it. For me, I always hold open an invitation for things that spark life through a sweet surprise. That’s what true joy is anyway—the feeling that’s on the other side of the known.
Have you found anything good lately? I always love swapping vintage stories—my friend Natalie just scored the most beautiful antique writing desk on Facebook Marketplace, and it has me dying to get hunting again. Hoping the elevator is back up and running soon!
