I remember hearing on a retail podcast awhile back someone mention that fashion brands are usually either selling reality or fantasy. The most successful brands are either pumping out democratic clothing people need or fashion items that people don’t know they want until they see it and can dream about how they will feel wearing it. I like things that suit both fancies.
My personal style filters are practicality (will I be comfortable in this for the activity I’ll be doing?), elegance (is there at least one special element in this look?) and joy (do I feel delight in wearing this?).
My favorite way to make an outfit feel true to me is with accessories, hence my love for vintage! I often add a pop of color with my shoes, belt, jewelry or hair accessory. Also a special detail like the bows on my new Sarah Flint Mirjana sandals will do. I recently became an ambassador for the brand and am considering purchasing the same sandals in the Amalfi blue color next! You can take $50 off your first order with code SARAHFLINT-BAJB on their website. They’re really well made and I know will be a go-to of mine for years to come.
I’ve been eyeing a few sweaters at Jenni Kayne and might make the investment this weekend because everything on their website is 20% off through Monday. Also, this dress at Reformation just came back in stock and would be perfect for occasions. Ponte black dresses are some of the more versatile and timeless. And, what do we think of these ballet flats in white or green? I’m thinking a yes soon.
Enjoy the holiday weekend! I’m heading to New Orleans for a wedding tonight on a red eye. I’ve never been and am looking forward to exploring a bit (aka vintage hunting) while I’m there. Join my community on Instagram to see what I find!
