Bold Moves

Voice shaky, heart pounding, blank stare. And still doing it anyway.

The biggest leaps I’ve taken in my life haven’t been logical. They’ve been unconventional, risky and looking back, definitely a little reckless. Yet those moments taught me what freedom really is: an aliveness in the unknown that makes you the artist of your life.

I’ve fallen hard. I’ve gone bankrupt. I’ve stared into the void and wondered if I’d made a mistake, if I did something wrong, if I should do more. So many nights I’ve sat on the bathroom floor and let the tears come. They always pass, and slowly disappointment and failure turn into data, fuel, fire—not stop signs. I’ve learned that nothing, not even my loudest doubts, can take away my capacity to believe in myself.

A friend reminded me recently of a Brené Brown message that has always stuck: “You can choose courage, or you can choose comfort. But you can’t have both. The people who get out there, who show up, who dare greatly, are the ones who make an impact. And yes, they might fail—but the credit belongs to those who are in the arena trying.”

Bold moves are about putting skin in the game—time, energy, reputation—for your own life. You leave corporate. You open that store you’ve been dreaming of. You plant seeds for a book, a podcast, or a framework. You reach out to the person you’ve been meaning to. You move to a new place. You schedule that workshop you’ve been wanting to host.

You don’t wait for the conditions to be perfect. Whatever is burning in your heart, you commit to exploring it now—with your presence, your dollars, your expression. And when you do, the right people, ideas, and opportunities show up.

I remember the exact moment I said no to a lateral move in corporate when they dissolved the brand I was working on. My stomach twisted. My mind screamed: “You’re crazy to do this without a plan.” I signed the resignation papers anyway, packed up my desk, and never collected a paycheck from someone else again.

The leap into entrepreneurship was even bolder. I went all in, full-time, applying my merchant eye to the unconventional world of vintage jewelry. I stayed in motion, drawing inspiration from other creatives around me, and learned how to build something from nothing.

Opening brick and mortar stores was more calculated. We ran pop-ups around the cities for months, learning shopping patterns, testing demand and feeling out the neighborhoods before signing leases- commitments and numbers that were bigger than me. When we closed the company, I pivoted my 15 year retail career into service based coaching.

And most recently, I closed my six figure vintage shop to dive fully into coaching and evolve my creativity in new ways. Did I throw security away? I don’t always know what I’m running toward, only that staying put feels like betraying myself.

Each leap has shown me that the only thing I can control is how I channel my energy and skills to make an impact. And that, when we grow, we out grow things. Failure, frustration, and disappointment are inevitable—but they are mile markers on the path to freedom, sharpening focus, expanding capacity, and building discernment.

Not every bold move is big and visible. Sometimes it’s internal — holding your ground instead of collapsing, saying no when it feels impossible, choosing clarity over pleasing. These choices declare who you are, what you stand for, and the energy you’ll accept in your life.

Together, I’m grateful my choices have added up to a life with space to reflect, create, dream, and collaborate with like-minded spirits. My home is my sanctuary, my work reflects my values, and my days are guided by intention. Life feels lighter, more open—because I’m learning to settle into the unknown instead of resisting it, and slowly, I’m getting used to the spaciousness that comes from clearing out what doesn’t belong.

Fear, scarcity, and the deep societal programming that time, money, or energy will run out—these slow us down or stop us. But operating from curiosity, creativity, and presence ensures we never run out of ideas or resources.

The old flex is a nice car and a big house. But bold moves force you to let go of the playbook and fall in love with the unknown. And this is exactly where life expands beyond imagination—where you meet your soul’s clarity and internal security. The new flex isn’t possessions—it’s owning your time and having the freedom to create the life you truly want.

I’m curious, what moves have helped you feel alive? And what leaps or tweaks could bring the people, collaborations, and resonance you’ve been waiting for?

These are the exact conversations I have with my clients—about trusting their energy, making unconventional moves, and creating from a place of freedom instead of fear. If you’re sitting on the edge of a bold move (or wondering what one could even be), this is the work I love most: helping you ground your vision and actually bring it to life.

Fear will always whisper. But bold moves are the refusal to listen. They are the muscle of freedom, the fire of creation. Every leap is proof: we were made for the unknown.
