Fall Fantasy Fashion

A client recently asked if I regretted closing my vintage shop and the truth is, I don’t. Not that I didn’t love it but I’ve been reflecting on how I had reached the edge of what I could creatively explore within that space. My process had been the same for years and it was feeling stale.

Over the past few months, I’ve felt a renewed freedom—funneling that creative energy into fashion at large, not just vintage. The entire fashion world feels like my oyster again, and it’s energizing!

As September unfolds, I decided to get clear on the themes and pieces I’m drawn to year after year:

  • Rich Textures: tweed, brocade, quilted jackets, satin, silk, leather.

  • 70s Vibes: patchwork, paisley, suede, western touches, chocolate brown.

  • Playful Prints & Color: leopard, Fair Isle, bright sweaters, pop color shoes.

  • Jewels & Metals: gemstones, beads, mixed metals, silver jewelry, long pendants.

I use a similar lens when hunting for fashion in both the new and vintage/secondhand worlds. This is where the thrill of the hunt lives for me: finding what feels special to add meaning and personalization to an otherwise practical closet.

Each season I like to treat myself to a few splurge-worthy items—the pieces I just know I’ll actually wear when I see them. Here’s what I’m dreaming about this fall:

Current Finds

Clothing

  • Violet Cashmere Sweater This color is so rich and unexpected, it would look so chic paired with a scarf.

  • Stripe Cardi This one is from a new brand I discovered in Copenhagen, why are fun fashion cardigans so hard to find right now? I love this one I saw on Julia.

  • Fair Isle Cardi I’m still dreaming of the blue version they did last season that I regret not investing in.

  • Paisley Top The print and wide, flowy sleeves feel so fresh. Also a great price!

  • Silk Tank A must-have layering piece under blazers, jackets, and sweaters. They’re surprisingly hard to find, so I always keep my eye out. A wine-colored one is on my dream list too.

  • Leather Jacket I’ve been hunting for one that will layer easily for both going out and casual wear—this might be it.

  • Suede Jacket My filter: it has to function like a blazer.

  • Maxi Skirt Loving this print and colors. Would be great with a black sweater.

  • Floral Maxi Dress I own this dress in another print and adore the crisp fabric and silhouette.

  • Patchwork Dress The flowy shape feels a little unusual, which makes it exciting.

Vintage/Secondhand Finds

I love keeping tabs on standout blazers, dresses, and sweaters in the vintage/secondhand world. The RealReal always has the best gems, but I also have saved searches on Poshmark for designers like Sea New York, St. John, Veronica Beard, and Missoni.

Accessories

  • Corded Necklace A rare YSL find, on trend this season, and even better with the enameled hearts.

  • Pink Studded Belt A rare Louis Vuitton piece in ostrich leather—the first I’ve seen!

  • Coin Earrings Chanel zodiac earrings for the Leos out there. The smallest coin size they made.

  • Beaded Necklace Earthy tones, perfect for fall layering.

  • Scroll Earrings Iconic 80s YSL; I just love black cabochons this time of year.

  • Green Chanel Bag Reminds me of a similar one I saw in Australia last year that was a big conversation starter when I shared on IG!

  • Suede Chanel Bag Reminds me of a tote I had for sale a few years ago that was also drool worthy. I think I’ll always love chunky gold hardware.

  • Heart Earrings I love that sterling has a less shiny look like this.

  • Leopard Belt A rare YSL piece, would be great to spruce up a simple dress.

  • Patchwork Bag A Ferragamo first for me—likely from the 90s. So fun and unexpected.

  • Magenta Suede Belt Just the thing to spice up a black top and jeans.

  • Black Stone Hoops Yes, more cabochons. Can’t help it 🙂

If you want even more, I’ve figured out a way to share daily finds on ShopMy. I’ve created sections for vintage/secondhand findsnew finds, and designer fantasy finds. You can count on it as a go-to spot for eye candy!
