It’s officially been a full year since I started selling vintage under my own name, Jillian Bremer Vintage! Making it a full ten years of buying and selling on my resume. What started as a hobby and hanging out with my dad, who I would travel around the country with to big antique shows to learn about the industry, became a very large, small business.
After Sweet & Spark closed, I realized that what you love will always love you back, through both the ups and the downs. I spent the year away from selling shopping for just myself again which helped me deepen my love and knowledge for vintage and sparked my desire to share it again in this new capacity. Looking back, it was all part of the path of learning how to create authentically, which is the framework my coaching practice is now built upon too!
I doubted whether people would find and remember me under my new website. Starting at what felt like the beginning again, without a brand name to hide behind, was terrifying. It brought me back to a lot of my original fears around being vulnerable in the unknown. Not just with my words but expressing my creativity in form which sometimes feels so innocent, mediocre and different from the unrealistic standards my inner critic holds of perfection.
But the extraordinary thing is that you’re still here on the journey with me! Your support in so many more ways than just sales have helped me to appreciate exactly who I am, right where I am. And that is such a gift! Never doubt how much your love (for people and things) can make an impact!
I’ve spent the last couple weeks going deeper on the three systems I’m offering readings around, The Enneagram, Human Design and The Gene Keys. I devour and savor books when they speak to me!
The one session, 90 minute readings are for anyone seeking clarity around their purpose and path to getting there. During our time together on google hangouts, I will share a document with each of your charts and explain the overview of each system as well as, read inspiring excerpts I’ve curated from several resources that explain your unique intangible gifts and the potential blocks to be mindful of. I’ll pause periodically to ask how the things I’m reading are translating for you in your current life.
Based on your charts, rooted in your birth information, I can help you unlock prosperity, love, radiance and purpose in your life. You’ll walk out feeling inspired and empowered to be the person in your heart you already know to be. I’ve heard way too many people doubt their uniqueness and I’m here to remind you of how powerful and special you really are to the whole!
This new coffee table of mine has been quite the teacher! Between it arriving damaged and not being sure if I loved it, to falling in love with it over a movie, it’s been quite the saga.
Oddly, it has me thinking about confidence and how it’s a journey. There will always be areas in our lives that we feel really confident in. For me that’s retail and fashion, which makes sense considering I went to college for it and then was in the industry for seven years.
On the flip side of that, there will always be areas that we’re growing our confidence in. For me that would be home interior decorating, writing content like this to learn how to communicate my perspective and also building a business in a new industry with my coaching services. To expect nothing but perfection of myself in these areas is so unrealistic. I know that yet I still can get sucked into the shadows.
What I’ve realized is just how brutally hard we can be on ourselves. Confidence isn’t about being perfect. It’s about trusting in your ability to give yourself space and time to learn without jumping to conclusions.
This table doesn’t have to be forever. It’s giving me the opportunity to learn about my style preferences and keep evolving, which is exactly what I need right now!
At the start of every season, I like to take inventory of my favorite go-to pieces from the last year. Then, I make a list of what I’d like to add to my collection to make sure what I purchase new this season is intentional.
More often that not, I gravitate towards closet staples that are neutral in color but still feel special and can be styled multiple ways. Here’s a round-up of pieces currently available in my vintage collection that fits the bill! Finds that I have no doubt you’ll love for many years to come.
I was invited to a women’s circle on Mount Tam a couple of weeks ago. It was so magical to cozy up with blankets on the mountain top to meditate, chat and eat a meal together. There were six woman, many whom I didn’t know, and we all got a chance to go around the circle and share what was on our hearts to be witnessed and held in love.
I shared how expansive the past month has been for me watching my coaching business double and how passionate I am about sharing Human Design as a tool to empower others! Not only was it to be wonderful to be held in community in that capacity but I also shared that on the other hand, I’ve been challenged to own my gift of leadership without feeling like I’m better than others. Ouch, nothing like being honest with your shadow. You know you’ve got it when it stings to admit out loud!
And to my surprise, the group so kindly reflected back to me that they felt my authority so clearly coming from an inner rooted place! One gal said she felt inspired by my energy and another said it felt comforting. Such a good reminder that a reframe is all that we need sometimes. Let’s make a deal to do this for others whenever we can!
The evening made me think of this Marienne Williamson quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
